What’s in a Song?

For Deck the Runway 2022, each designer was able to choose the music they wanted their models to walk to. This was a task I took to heart, because there is so much depth of meaning that can be conveyed in a simple song.

These are the songs I chose, and why…

Jump – by Madonna: Yes, jump for jumpsuits... but also, if you listen to the lyrics, the chorus says

“Are you ready to jump? Get ready to jump

Don't ever look back, oh baby

Yes, I'm ready to jump, just take my hands

Get ready to jump”

It’s my pump up song, I’m ready!! Let’s go!! Let’s make this thing happen!

Alive – by Jessie J: My brand is about making clothes that help women be enthusiastically and vibrantly present wherever their day takes them. To be Alive, present, here, now, living life to the full.

Vogue – by Madonna: I first heard this song as part of the soundtrack to the movie The Devil Wears Prada, one of my favorite movies about a young professional trying to make her way in the world and advance her career to follow her dream. And in the end she chooses to follow her dream her own way and choosing the high road. (Plus the clothes in the movie are fun.)

What can you do while you’re waiting for launch?

1)     Tell your friends by sharing our posts and reels (@britschmitofficial)

2)     Send me your best “jumpsuit problem” reels, memes, etc. (Let’s show that there’s a solution to people’s problem so they #neverpeenakedagain)
