The Power of a Smile

Have you ever noticed the power of a smile, a genuine smile?

Try it sometime.

Rather than walking down the sidewalk or through the parking lot with your head down, or on your phone, meet someone’s eyes as they pass and just smile.

Or before you get to the cashier in line, smile.

Watch what happens.

I have seen faces transform from downcast and apathetic, to engaged and filled with life.

Some are surprised. Some don’t notice. And yes, some don’t smile back.

But for the ones who notice and respond, you have created a connection, a bright spot in their day. At least when someone smiles at me, that’s how I feel. How about you?
