The Story Behind the Brit Schmit Logo

There is a flower on the Brit Schmit logo, does it have any significance?

 

Yes, does it ever. The flower on the Brit Schmit logo is a gladiola (gladiolus) flower.

 

The name actually derives from the word for sword in both Latin and Greek, because of the flower’s sword-shaped leaves. Because of this, these flowers were associated with gladiators.

 

Now, this immediately made me think of “The Man in the Arena”, the excerpt from a speech by Theodore Roosevelt.

 

“It is not the critic who counts; not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles or where the doer of deeds could have done them better.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows the great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.”

 

These are the women that I am serving with my brand. The ones who dare to follow their calling, while remaining intentional in their relationships with their family. To the women who live a jumpsuit lifestyle, who want one thing they can put on in the morning, knowing that it is stylish and versatile enough to carry them wherever the day takes them.

 

Maybe for some of you ladies it’s from drop-off, to a meeting at the office, to a webinar, to cooking dinner and soccer practice. Or maybe you work from home and your day looks like making breakfast, homeschooling your kids, recording a podcast, then going to the park with your kids, then maybe you were able to get a quick date night in with your spouse.

 

These are just two examples, but I hope they help you understand my vision for this clothing line. I want to help you do more of what you love. And that means clothing that can move throughout your day without worrying about ruining your ‘nice clothes’, and feeling confident from sunup to sundown.

 

The gladiolus flower also represents

strength,

moral integrity,

sincerity,

generosity,

infatuation,

persistence despite challenges, and

victory.
